Atomic Lambos success can be attributed to his metronomic consistency during races as well as fast qualifying pace, usually placing him on the front row of the grid. His worst starting place being 5th on two occasions, Spain and Singapore.

Lambo fought back strongly against the sheer pace of bobaj0r, focussing on developing a race winning package, an effort reflected by his success particular in the second half of the season.

While the season did not go down to the wire as some expected it would, everyone concedes that the result would not have changed and that Lambo is a worthy dual world champion.

And then there were two. Leggard previews Abu Dahbi

This years season has been a roller-coaster ride in terms of the drivers championship, and as we approach the final races of the Atomic F1 season two drivers remain in the hunt for the ultimate prize. McLarens Bobaj0r was the hot talent that arrived on the scene in the first half of the season dominating the early fly away and European legs of the calendar. Renaults Lambo turned it around at Spa to go on a hot streak of wins to claw the lead back and now, and with only two races left finds himself on the cusp of a second title. With the title now delicately poised we take a look at the form guide for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Championships:
With Ferraris Flouncy now out of the running the title race now comes down to Renaults Lambo and McLarens bobaj0r. With his non points finish in India he's made his job slightly tougher, but with 50 points to play for and the lead 36 points he's still very much in the hunt. Lets take a look at the numbers and see what each driver needs to do to secure victory:

Lambo:
A third place finish or higher in Abu Dahbi will guarantee the Renault driver his second title no matter where bobaj0r finishes. If bobaj0r doesn't win the race, 6th or higher will be all that's needed to secure the title.

Bobaj0r:
A win and Lambo finishing no higher than 4th will see the title go down to the last race in Brazil. A Second place and Lambo finishing no higher than 7th will also delay the result till Brazil.

It's been largely overshadowed by the drivers battle, but the Constructors championship is very much alive with Ferrari and McLaren within striking distance of each other. After the double non finish in India, McLaren are still in the box seat with a slender 19 point lead.

On Form:
After his win in India, his 5th in 6 races the momentum and form is now heavily with Lambo as he continues to ride a wave of confidence that leaves him poised to take out his second title. Only needs to finish 3rd in Abu Dahbi to guarantee the title it will be his to lose now and would cap of a remarkable half season racking up 6 wins and 2 podiums.

Out Of Form:
The body language said it all as McLarens bobaj0r shunned away from the media after his dissapointing Indian Grand Prix. Battling Flouncy for most of the race a drive through penalty for corner cutting followed by a race incident with back marker fredzfrog was too much and he retired shortly after. The race was a disaster for McLaren with both drivers failing to score, allowing Ferrari to catch up within 19 points now of the constructors championship. At the half way point it looked like neither championship could be lost but with two races left it's possible that McLaren will walk away from this season without a championship.

One To Watch:
Mercedes have continued their climb up the ladder with ET Rom recording a well deserved 3rd place in India. His podium was his 3rd of the season and has capped off a solid return to form and one that should see his services retained by the Ferrari outfit. Season 5 looks bright for the rising star.

Fast Facts:

This will be the fourth Abu Dahbi Grand Prix. Previous winners, S1 Lambo, S2 Lambo, S3 Flouncy.

Abu Dahbi was the scene of the climatic finish to season 3 as Flouncy won the race to take out his second consecutive title.

Real Life Facts:

A sophisticated lighting system is in place around the Yas Marina to allow the race to start at sundown and continue into the night. Light fixtures with vertical controllable beams remove shadow and glare at driver level.

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and its name translates literally as 'father of the gazelle'. Its modern wealth is founded on oil, construction and financial services, although Abu Dhabi was settled in the third millennium BC by nomads and fishermen.

Yas Marina is the only circuit on the F1 calendar with a pit lane tunnel, where the drivers rejoin the track by passing underneath it.

There has only been one safety car period in the two years of racing at Yas Marina, when the Mercedes SLS was deployed to allow the marshals to clear up a first lap accident between Michael Schumacher and Tonio Liuzzi.

Sebastian Vettel holds the lap record with a time of 1.40.279, set during the first year of competition at the circuit in 2009.

The circuit is 5.554 km and is the sixth longest F1 has visited this year.

The fastest corner is the sweeping left at turn two, taken at 260 km/h and putting the drivers under a pressure of 4G.

Drivers make 68 gear changes during every lap of the Yas Marina circuit.

Circuit:
Abu Dhabi is one of the most architecturally impressive circuits on the calendar, but in its first two years the racing has been a little sterile. A lack of overtaking is the main issue but there's a good chance that problem will be solved with the use of DRS, KERS and Pirelli tyres this year. The track itself offers plenty of technical challenges for the drivers with off-camber corners and heavy braking zones, but lacks any stand-out corners for viewers watching at home. Although its place on the F1 calendar is in no doubt, the quality of this year's racing could make or break the circuit in the eyes of the fans.

Betting:
Betting is still in favour of the Renault driver at 4/1 again, however the dark horse emerging is McLarens Kikz at 6/1 and bobajor at the same odds. Ferraris Flouncy is a good bet at 8/1 and Ghost is an outside chance at 10/1. If your a betting man put a dollar or to on Modz at 70/1.

Leggard Prediction:
It's been a rough season for McLarens Kikz but Abu has been a circuit hes done well at in the past. We think that Kikz will finally dust the bad luck off and record his first win of the season.

Mclaren set to lose drivers for season 5

Word has been leaked that Mclaren drivers bobaj0r and TurrbalTerror are walking from the Mclaren team at the end of season 4. Championship contender bobaj0r, who has competed all of his 39 races for the Woking outfit and TurrbalTerror who drove for the team in season 1, 3, and 4 are in an unusual move, expected to not accept the option on their contract.

While bobaj0r was uncontactable, number two driver TurrbalTerror had the following to say:

"Mclaren have been great to me over the years although but after a season of misfortune and disappointment I need to seek out fresh challenges to remain motivated. I wish Mclaren all the best in the future and am sure they'll sign talented drivers."

It is rumoured that both are seeking a drive at Red Bull Racing for season 5, keen to experience an Adrian Newey car.

A source at Mclaren also confirmed they are looking at other current top placed drivers to fill the space left in the team by their departing drivers. Speculation is mounting over just who those two drivers will be.

The 2003 version of Kimi came back

When news first broke that Kimi Raikkonen was looking to return to Formula 1 for 2012, it was looked on with disdain from some and delight from others. A long time Kimi fan, I was actually one of the former. Over the last year of his Formula 1 career I suppose his seeming lack of motivation, and at least lack of results in the Ferrari, coupled with the rise of my compatriot Mark Webber has led me away from the awesome driving by the Finn. Suzuka 2005 was a fading memory.

Many thought Kimi's return would be a joke, citing his less than stellar performance in WRC and his two year break from Formula 1. We looked at Michael Schumchers comeback results and doubted that the Finn could do it too if the 7 time world champion German could not.

Now in the Lotus team and the first offical F1 test for the 2012 season has been run in Jerez, long time Kimi fans have more than hope for the Future. Coupled with the words Lotus team boss Eric Boullier gave at the end of the three day test, and the Finn's actual results, the 2003 version of Raikkonen seems to be the one that was returned.

Gone is the media hermit of old, even 2003. Instead it seems a revitalised Kimi has also had time to reflect on what it actually means to be an F1 driver, and that includes talking to the media and giving the fans some information.

While Kimi didn't set the overall fastest lap of the test days, and that could hardly be expected, he did go sub 1:20 and perform over 100 trouble free laps.

Raikkonen's new teammate, Romain Grosjean also went 2nd faster on day three (Kimi tested on days 1 and 2 of 3 total), bettering the Finn's time and only slightly worse than the Merecedes of Nico Roseberg

I've been following Formula 1 long enough to know that pre-season testing does not accurately indicate performance during the season, but it is encouraging that both Renaults are fast and not at the mid or bottom of the timesheets.

Eric Boullier had the following comments on Raikkonen:

"After the frustrations of 2011 and the loss of the model that we had built around Robert, the arrival of Kimi has been the secret to the galvanisation of the team," explains Boullier. "It has been a big boost.

"Every driver is different and is their own character. Kimi is bringing a different kind of leadership to Robert. Firstly, there is his record. He has been the world champion but by being very clear and very consistent in what he wants, he has imposed himself as a leader in the team. People want to work for him and push for him.

I for one am excited by the positivity coming from Lotus in regards to Raikkonen, as well as encouraged by his immediate return pace. I can't wait for the season to begin on March 16 in Melbourne.

Leggard previews the Indian GP season 4

And then there were 3...
Four championship contenders lined up on the grid for the Korean Grand Prix last Sunday but only three walked away knowing that they were still in the hunt for the Grand Prize. With the season nearing completion the excitement level is quickly building as we look down the barrel of yet another close finish. With McLarens Kikz now out of contention the focus turns to the 3 remaining drivers who can still lift the trophy at the end of the season. Renaults Lambo holds a slender 11 point lead over bobaj0r with Flouncy a further 36 points adrift. So we once again peer into the crystal ball and try and decipher who will win the Indian Grand Prix.

On Form:
Five races ago you would have had a tough time putting money on anyone other than McLarens bobaj0r, however things can quickly change in F1 as Renaults Lambo has clawed the lead back after winning 4 out of the last 5 races to put himself well in contention to win his second title. His drive in Korea was especially impressive and with solid wins at Monza, Spa and a vital podium in Japan his confidence is flying high. The last few races are set to be some of the most exciting yet.

Out Of Form:
It's been a tough season for McLarens Kikz as he's struggeld to find both speed and consistency. He's been thoroughly out-driven by his team mate bobaj0r and it's been easily his worst season yet having not registered a victory yet. Not all of it can be blamed on the 3 time race winner as bad luck has also plagued him, and there were also strong performances at Monza, Valencia and the podium beckoned at Korea if it weren't for a late pitstop. His full potential has yet to be unlocked but with news of an upgrade for the last remaining races, we may well still see some surprises from the McLaren veteran. His best is yet to come.

One To Watch:
Williams driver Eradicator has been featured here a number of times in the past and while he's not quite yet made the big step atop the podium this season he's certainly been knocking on the door a number times. His qualifying speed has been solid and been backed up with good race pace and it seems that it's only a matter of time before he may be a serious championship contender.

Fast Facts:
- This will be the first Indian Grand Prix.

Real Life Facts:

The circuit is located near Greater Noida, around 60km outside of New Delhi.

The track will be part of a much wider development known as Jaypee Greens Sports City, which will also include a cricket stadium, hockey stadium and golf course.

TJaypee Greens Sports City will also feature residential areas split up in to 12 themed districts.

The circuit name - Buddh International Circuit - is derived from the word Buddha to mean peace and calmness, and is also a reference to the Gautam Buddh Nagar district where it is based.

Drivers spend 65% of the 3.192 mile lap at full throttle and spend the longest time flat out between turns three and four; a total of 14.5 seconds.

The maximum g-force load is expected to reach 4.0G.

Turn 12 will be the quickest corner of the lap, expected to be taken at around 160mph.

The lap is expected to have the second highest average speed of the season behind Monza.

Circuit:
The new track has some distinct Hermann Tilke features to it, and is relatively similar to Korea in its contradictory nature. The first half of the lap combines long straights and hairpin turns, before the second half sees more high speed sections and challenging double apex corners like turns 10 and 11. Overtaking opportunities will occur in to turn one and turn four, with a double DRS zone in place on the pit straight and again after turn three.

Betting:
Betting has switched pace now as Lambo has a small lead in the Championship and is tipped to take out the inaugural Indian Grand Prix at 4/1, bobaj0r hasn't slipped much tho and is 5/1. McLaren's Kikz is at 9/1, while Flouncy is definitely worth a look at 10/1. Eradicator at 20/1 and if your a betting man put a dollar or two on Sora at 300/1

Leggard Prediction:
It's hard to pick a driver between the top two but we think this just might be the track for Ferraris Flouncy to shake things up.

Mclaren test Load Cell braking technology

Following Ferrari's lead, Mclaren have installed a 'load-cell' braking system on the #2 Mclaren of TurrbalTerror. This technology has been hailed as a breakthrough in braking and is expected to deliver lap time improvements to the car.

When asked why the technology was not fitted to the #1 car, if it's so good, team boss Rob Gray said "bobaj0r is still in contention for the world championship and it's important the team maximise his chance of success. Installing unproven technology on his car is not in the interests of bobaj0r or the Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes team".

When asked about the technology TurrbalTerror had the following to say, "Load cell braking is a fantastic piece of technology that Ferrari have been benefiting from for quiet some time. I'm honoured that Vodafone Mclaren Mercedes have chosen me to test this technology on the car and I expect that we will see good results through it's development. We aim to running it on the car tried and tested for Season 5."

Leggard previews the Korean GP season 4

The season heats up
The Season 4 championship hots up after the top two drivers left Japan within 4 points of each other. McLarens bobaj0r returned to the top step with a great drive as Renaults Lambo was realistically in damage limitation but managed to secure third to retain the lead in the championship all be it by only 4 points. With only 4 races left and 4 drivers who can technically win the championship the reality is it's a three horse race with McLarens Kikz having the impossible task of trying to win all 4 remaining races and Lambo, Bobaj0r and Flouncy failing to score to take the title. So what drama is in store for the remainder of the season? We take our crystal ball and once again peer into the unknown as we preview round 16 of the Atomic F1 Championship.

On Form:
In the last few races we have seen the resurgence of Lotus' Ghost who is starting to show glimpses of the brilliance that so nearly brought him to a title last season. Very easily could have had 3rd at Japan if it were not for a small mistake going into the R130 he'll be looking to put pressure on 4th placed driver Kikz who holds a tiny 1 point lead. Korea is a favourite for the Lotus driver as he's won the last two races here. Could he throw a spanner in the works for the other 4?

Out Of Form:
It would be hard to criticise a driver for finishing second in a race but there was no hiding the shock and disappointment of Ferraris Flouncy having not won his pet event and record what could have been a 4th straight victory at the Suzuka curcuit. Some pundits have seen it as a passing of the torch or simply a sign that hes acknowledged the end of his season. Either way it looks like the driver will be looking for more luck in season 5.

One To Watch:
Ever since his explosive start to season 4 Mercedes ET ROM au has not enjoyed a consistent season. However after a podium at Singapore and narrowly missing out on a repeat at Japan ET is having a late season resurge in form. He was once marked as the next big thing at the start of the season, and while his mid season races were off there's no mistake he could be preparing for a big finish which could mix up the final standings. One to watch.

Fast Facts:
- This will be the 4th Korean Grand Prix. Past Winners - S1 bobaj0r, S2 HolyGhost, S3 HolyGhost.
- Season 1 and 3 was raced on a curcuit that at the time wasn't even finished in the real world. While the layout remains the same the feel for 2011 is very much different.

Real Life Facts:
- The circuit is located in Yeongam on reclaimed land between the hills outside the city of Mokpo in the south western province of Jeollanam-do.
- The circuit has been designed to be part-permanent, part F1-only. For the grand prix, the permanent track is extended to run alongside the nearby waterfront, which will one day be a harbour.
- The roof of the main grandstand has been designed to resemble the eaves of a hankok (a traditional Korean house)
- KIC is one of five Formula One circuits that run anti-clockwise on the 2011 calendar, alongside Turkey's Istanbul Park, Singapore's Marina Bay, Interlagos in Brazil, and the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
- Drivers spend 62% of the lap at full throttle and keep the pedal to the metal for 14.4 seconds along the 0.75 mile straight to turn three.
- The top speed without DRS at the circuit is 198mph
- Drivers will make 51 gear changes per lap.
- There were four safety car appearances during the 2010 race.

Circuit:
Three distinct sectors make up circuit. Sector one has long straights and heavy braking zones ideal for overtaking; sector two has sweeping corners with multiple apices rewarding downforce; and sector three is a bit like a street circuit that twists between concrete walls. Last year it provided a thrilling spectacle but it remains to be seen what the circuit can offer in the dry. The DRS zone will run along half of the long straight between turns two and three, which should help overtaking but not make it too easy.

Betting:
Once again it's bobaj0r who is the heavy favourite at 5/4, with Lambo priced at 5/1. McLaren's Kikz is at 10/1, while Flouncy is definitely worth a look at 7/1. Eradicator at 20/1 and if your a betting man put a dollar or two on Eradicator at 30/1

Leggard Prediction:
Everyone loves an upset and with 2 out of 3 victories recorded by Ghost we'll put money that he'll make it 3 out 4.

Korea Reimagined

The season 4 Korean GP will see the cars race on a revised circuit. Seasons 1 through 3 were raced on the Korean track before it was actually finished, and as such this new track is somewhat different. Most the corners have been reprofiled in their angles and apexes and the first thing veteran races will notice is the lack of building and decals, along with the coloured runoff areas.

This makes this seasons race an unknown. The times set in seasons gone by cannot be accurately used to gauge progess this season, even disregarding DRS. At previous races we've seen times decrease by as much as 5 seconds per lap in qualifying, but will we see that much this time, or maybe significantly more?

One of the highligts of this race has to been the massive multicar pile up at last seasons race. It was an accident that barely a car made it through unscathed.

With the championship battle essentially down to Lambo and bobaj0r, separated by 5 points, it's expected that these two drivers will again take the limelight, as they have all year. Credit to Flouncy for still being in the running despite on modest results, compared to these two, but the ultimate battle will definitely come down to the Mclaren and Renault driver fight.

It's expected that boba0r will occupy pole position, although of late he has been a little off his qualifying form, with an atypical fourth place on the grid at the previous grand prix. Who else can we expect up the pointy end besides these three contenders? I wouldn't put my money on anyone else buy HolyGhost79 taking fourth on the grid from a hard charging Eradicator84. It's also possible that st8smn350 could have another blinder and line up on the second row of the grid, and don't discount ET Rom, who will come into this race positive after a strong finish at Suzuka.

Fallen19 to test for atomicf1
