CruiserComet quits Renault team following crashgate

Renault driver CruiserComet has quit the team following last nights Singapore Grand Prix.  He crashed heavily out of the race bringing out the seasons first safety car, allowing the field to bunch back together.

CruiserComet offered the following statement in a press conference this morning:

"I hereby quit my position as full-time driver for the Lotus-Renault AtomicF1 Team, and also withdraw from AtomicF1 indefinitely

I always knew I would not be a competitive driver, but adding to this my lag issues, eventually altercations would occur

It is a nuisance for all other drivers in the AtomicF1 league, as well as an unenjoyable experience for myself

Depending on future circumstances, I may return for special races. But, if the current situation persists, I will not return full time"

This leaves team Renault without a second driver and handily puts an end to any chance other teams may lodge an appeal on the grounds unsportsman-like behaviour.

Despite the possible dubious circumstances of his exit, CruiserComet is regarded as a driver with passion and commitment to improving his craft.  He will be missed on the circuit and the competition hopes he can find a drive in a lesser series and return for occasional non-championship rounds.
